Am listening to this right now...Very good audio considering its age...I used to listen to the Whistler on Sunday nights after taking my bath...Apparently it was on at 6 pm before Our Miss Brooks, according to Dunning's Encyclopedia of Old Time Radio...For some reason, I always thought it came on later, like around 8:30. I dont know if I could understand some of the plots, but I do know I listen to it and apparently didnt get scared.
