Cover Cavalcade
Yes, the Gold Key adaptation of Star Trek was poorly done for the most part--but dang if they didn't produce some bizarrely entertaining covers.
One thing that can be said about it was that it kept the franchise alive with original stories in the 1970s right up to the 1979 reboot, even if those stories were wildly off-canon.
