Dragnet: “The Big
Holdup” 1/4/51
A thug and his blonde gal are pulling off a series of
small-time muggings and robberies, pausing to beat the snot out of their
victims (or simply shoot them) apparently just for the fun of it. Sgt. Friday
is given the task of tracking them down.
It’s not uncommon on Dragnet
for the matter-of-fact, unemotional style of the show to ironically generate a
lot of emotion. A scene in this one in which a mother is interviewed about a
daughter she knows has gone bad is a perfect example of this.
