The First Superhero Movies

The latest video I've made for the Ringling College of Art Library is about the superhero serials of the 1940.

  1. Glad you mentioned Spy Smasher, it's one of the best serials out there. Honorable mention should go to The Secret Code, which featured the Black Commando. Not a comic book hero, but still a great serial from Columbia.
It's too bad Doc Savage never made a serial, The Spider did, and those two are a lot of fun as well.
    Great job on the video!

    1. A well-made Doc Savage serial would have been a joy to watch. I really don't know why he never made it to the screen--he was a close second behind the Shadow among Street and Smith pulp heroes.
